Kick-off meeting of the HL7 FHIR Russia group dedicated to point of care testing (POCT)
The first meeting of the HL7 FHIR Russia working group dedicated to the development of a standard for conducting studies at the place of treatment took place. The working group will design information exchange processes between information systems and laboratory equipment, develop an integration standard and implement it in the industry.
Point of care testing (POCT) is a type of laboratory testing conducted at a patient's location or care location. That is, in fact, outside the main laboratory of a medical organization or a centralized laboratory. The analysis can be carried out both by clinical personnel who do not have a laboratory education, or directly by the patient himself. The key distinguishing feature of the business process from the point of view of digitalization is that the analysis is carried out without creating a direction for research in the medical information system and does not require the mandatory participation of the laboratory information system in the process - it is enough just to transfer the result of the study from the device to the MIS.
During the meeting, the participants defined the main criteria for processes and scenarios for studies at the place of treatment, outlined the goals and objectives of the working group.
